THE STORY
BEHIND THE STAYS

Hi, I’m Sally,
...and alongside my husband Tom and our three boys, we’re the family behind The Cherry Tree and The Wild Cherry Hideaway.
We didn’t plan on becoming holiday let hosts. In fact, when we set up The Cherry Tree, it was on a bit of a whim - an opportunity that brought about a big shift. It was a leap into the unknown… one that ended up reshaping everything.
What started as a way to preserve our much-loved family home turned into a beautiful space where other families could connect, unwind, and create memories of their own. And now, a few years (and a fair few learnings) later, we’ve stepped into the next chapter with The Wild Cherry Hideaway - our luxury off-grid, double shepherd’s hut, created with the same love, attention to detail, and a deep respect for the land it sits on.

Together, these two spaces are different in style but rooted in the same values: a slower pace, thoughtful design, warm welcomes, and a sense of escape that stays with you long after your bags are packed.
Why we do what we do

We believe the best kind of luxury is the kind you can truly relax into. Comfort that doesn’t shout, but gently holds you. Details that feel as good as they look. Places that invite you to gather, to pause, and to reconnect - whether that’s around the kitchen table or under the stars.

For us, this isn’t just about beautiful spaces. It’s about creating a lifestyle that puts family, wellbeing, and sustainability first - and offering a slice of that to every guest who walks through our doors.
Rooted in Sustainability

We’re not perfect, but we care deeply. The Wild Cherry Hideaway was created with eco-conscious design at its heart - from the recycled Kadai firepit and Cinderella incinerator toilet, to the wood-fired hot tub and reclaimed fittings. We chose fewer, better things, and worked with local makers wherever possible.

At The Cherry Tree, we continue to evolve our practices - reducing waste, choosing green suppliers, and sourcing sustainable products for our welcome packs and interiors.

We’re proud to work with like-minded local businesses who share our values - many of whom help us create the thoughtful extras you’ll experience during your stay. (You can find more about them here.)

A few things that matter to us...
-
Real connection over perfection,
-
That “just exhale” feeling when you arrive,
-
Taking time to notice the little things,
-
Championing independent makers and local growers,
-
Creating experiences that feel authentic, nourishing, and special,
-
Letting the land lead the way.
